Serena Green

Serena Green grew up in Cohasset MA, art was exposed to her at an early age. At the time she was born, her father George Shedd created the syndicated cartoon strip of “Marlin Keep” published in over two hundred fifty papers, including the Boston Globe. In the meantime, her mother another talented artist did all of the lettering and helped with the solid storyline. Later in time, he became a well-known watercolorist winning several awards. His painting soon was exhibited in galleries up and down the New England Coast. As a young child, her parents moved from Atlanta GA to Scituate. At the time then her father had supported the family by selling his paintings in Welch's, Scituate Harbor. In the trail of her parent's footsteps, Serena graduated from Mass College of Art with a BFA in education. After college, she taught art at the Lillian Jacobs Elementary School in Hull, and East Plymouth River in Higham. For multiple years she also taught at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, until she opened her own art studio which her husband John Green build in Scituate MA. Teaching mosaics, drawing, painting, bas-relief plaster carving, and sculpture. Serena Yeeels the energy from her students reverberate in the studio. The strength of their combined creative energy and brilliant minds because the inspiration in her own work as a plein air painter and creating her own mosaics. Last spring her hope was to bring and recreate that same energy with her friends. From this, the group “Piece of mind” was created out of that same passion, creative mindset, and love for art she shared with her friends.

PIECE OF MIND

"Last spring, I invited friends and fellow artists to join me in the studio. Some of us began creating mosaics many years ago, others were creating for the first time.  It has become a special time of sharing both artistically and as friends.  We have come to cherish our journey in this peaceful space filled with creativity, support and laughter.
